G550 with AMG Fender!?

There are many reasons to pay extra buck to buy G55 AMG over a regular Mercedes Benz G550.  Super-charged 5.5L V8 engine produces 500PS compare to 382PS, dual side exhaust, bigger rims and wider fenders only come with the G55...  Well, it supposed to be.  

Check out the picture above, as you can see, the wheels are for G550, there are no dual side exhausts, and it even has the G550 badge with out the AMG one on the right side.  Clearly, it is a picture of Mercedes Benz G550... except for the wider fender.  This particular G550 has an AMG wide fender for G55.  You may be able to tell buy the rear side marker, but the screen shot above is from Mercedes Benz USA website.

上の画像をご覧ください。　これは北米メルセデスベンツのウェブサイトにあるG550のページのスクリーンショットです。　ホイールはG550のものですし、デュアル・サイド・エキゾーストもありません。　エンブレムもG550とあるだけで、AMGのものはみられません。　どこからどう見てもG550なのですが、フェンダーだけがG55用のワイドなものが装着されています。

Targa Trophy Rd.1: L.A. to S.D.

 
 Targa Trophy is a street rally, like Gumball3000 and Bullrun.  The difference is, Gumball3000 is international and drive through different continents for 3000 miles, and Bullrun is nationwide; but Targa Trophy is local. So with TT, those of you who cannot take day off from work for 8 days can still experience a cannonball run.

世界中を走り回り各地でパーティーをするガンボール3000や、同じコンセプトながら全米が舞台のブルランなど、ストリートラリーやキャノンボールと呼ばれるものは全行程に参加すると大体1週間かかります。　もちろん中にはキャノンボールに興味はあるけど、そんなに仕事を休めないという人もいるでしょう。

Hundreds of Ferraris and even more fans came out for Concorso Ferrari in Old Town Pasadena.  Spectators enjoyed walking around and taking pictures of F40, F50, Enzo, F355, F360 Modena, F360CS, F430, F430SC, F430 16M, F330 to just name a few.  

カリフォルニアはロサンゼルス近郊にあるオールドタウン パサデナにて、コンコーソ フェラーリが行われました。町の目抜き通りを閉鎖しての開催だったため、たくさんの人が訪れ南カリフォルニアらしい素晴らしい天候の中、歩きまわったり写真を撮ったりして楽しんでいる様子が印象的でした。

Gumball3000 2010 Pt.1

This could be the craziest race in the world.  

We feature Gumball3000 every year in different media outlets. We featured it in Axel Speed Magazine last year and Daytona Magazine Japan 2 years ago. This year, we are bringing you the story here on Tokyo Drive Magazine.

Gumball3000 was started by a British former model Maxmillion Cooper.  It was just him and his friends from music, fashon, movie and all kinds of entertainment industries driving/racing/rallying and having fun in Europe more than 10 years ago.  Gumball just kept expanding since then, and more and more celebrities with crazy cars started to participate.  Participants include Models, actors, fashion designers, successful business owners, etc, and participating cars are Bugatti Veyron, McLaren SLR, Lamborghini Murcierago, 997 Porsche 911 Turbo, 997 GT3RS, BMW M5 and more.

もしかしたら世界中で一番クレイジーなレース、Gumball3000が今年も開催されました。

Gumball3000というのは公道キャノンボールの名前で、イギリス人（元）モデルのマキシミリオン・クーパー氏がファッション、音楽、映画などエンターティメント業界のリッチな友人を誘って始めたもの。　一年に一度のレースはすでに12年目を迎えていて、今年の参加者（車）も超豪華。　

ヨーロッパやアメリカのエンターティメント関係者はもちろん、アラブの富豪、LAストリートファッションの重鎮たちまで様々。　同時に参加車両もブガッティ ベイロンはもちろん、マクラーレン SLR、ランボルギーニ ムルシエラゴ、997ターボや997 GT3RSあたりはゴロゴロなんていうとんでもない事態（でも、毎年そんな感じ）。　新進気鋭のLAはベニス発のストリートブランドRogue Statusチームに至ってはBMW M5をパトカーのカラーリングにしたり、ヨーロッパやアラブ系ナンバーで北米を走ったり（おそらくカルネを使用）、もうやりたい放題。

写真を見ていただく前にココでルートの確認。　ロンドンをスタートした一行はアムステルダム、コペンハーゲン、ストックホルムまでヨーロッパを爆走、その後エア便にて各車をアメリカ大陸まで空輸、ボストン、モントリオール、トロントを経由し、最終目的地のニューヨークを目指すというもの。

PumaやMonster Energy Drinkなどの非自動車業界のスポンサーが付いてるのも、クルマとファッションを融合させたライフスタイルを提案するTokyo Drive Magazineっぽくて、非常に良いと思うのです。
